As someone starting out a business, you either get the newbie excitement or anxiety, both of which aren’t that good for your business. But if you have to pick one option out of the two, you should be anxious. All that excitement will probably get you a whole lot of disappointments.
The fact is, a lot of start-up companies get launched every single month, but only few make it through at least the first 6-12 months. For starters, the odds are against you as a new business owner. To be successful, you have to work your way through the odds.
I have had some start ups before, when I was a rookie in this whole world of online business. None of my startups made the 1 year challenge. I ditched the ideas and moved on from one brand to another, even though most of them were good.
So today, I’m gonna show you the foolproof formula to save your start-up from failing in 2018. I’m gonna list why your business will fail and the ways to overcome them:
1. Unrealistic Expectations
“Expect nothing and you won’t be disappointed.”
Having a lot of expectations is the number one killer of dreams and businesses. So you start a business, and after a few months, you start imagining that you’re gonna start cashing out in 4-5 figures. Businesses don’t work that way. It might take you even a year or more to start seeing success. That doesn’t mean you should give up.
I don’t blame most people. They get sold these ‘get-rich-quick’ schemes by the Internet gurus that promise them cars, mansions and lots of cash in just few months. They show you how they’re living in cool houses, driving exotic cars. That’s BS. They don’t tell you how they came to it. All the hard work they had to put in and all their failures.
Sadly, I was a victim of such shenanigans. I wish someone warned me forehand.
So if you’re stating a business, just wing it. (I know that’s not the attitude but meh)
Don’t expect much, just do your best. Don’t expect that the result and formula they had success with, will definitely work for your business. Do your best, and expect little.
2. Lack of Clear Goals
If you don’t have a clear goal for anything you are doing, you shouldn’t even do it, you’ll just waste your time. It’s like going around a roundabout with your car, it has no purpose. Just a waste of fuel and your energy.
For your business to prosper, you need to set certain goals for it, and work towards achieving the set goals within a prescribed time.
You can break down your goals into simple tasks you can accomplish everyday. That way, it’ll be easier for you to work efficiently on your business.
Each task must be accomplished within a set period also. You should discipline yourself to work hard and reach the goals of your business.
3. Lack of Planning
“If you don’t have a plan, you have planned to fail.”
The quote above is suffient to explain the point. Without a plan for your business you will waste resources and wind up with NOTHING.
I always tell my students (not like I have much), that the first step in creating your start-up is to draw up a blueprint for your whole business from A-Z before you even start.
If you don’t have a plan and you just start out, you will be stuck and find yourself toying around with your business. And after all that, you wind up with NOTHING.
4. Poor Technical Know-how
If you don’t know how to configure and start your business, it isn’t gonna work out buddy. Imagine you’re selling really cool stuff on your website, and a customer gets on your site wanting to buy a product on your store. But oops he can’t checkout, there’s a problem with the payment process. He can’t pay. Then he quits your site. You’ve lost that sale and many more.
So, you should know how to configure the aspects of your business and ensure that everything is working well. If you don’t know how to, you can outsource it to someone else on Fiverr, Upwork, Freelance etc.
5. Lack of Focus
Focus is essential to your start-up. Focusing on your business entails giving it your attention, time, effort and resources.
Your business is like a little child and you are its parent. You have to take care of it very well. If you don’t take care of it, it won’t prosper. It’ll definitely fail.
6. Lack of Patience
“Business is thirty percent patience.”
– Chinese Proverb
When you’re not patient with your business, it puts you in an anxious state, whereby you just wanna see your business making profits.
Business doesn’t work out that way, it takes time to prosper.
If you want to see your business grow, you have to be patient with it. Rome wasn’t built in a day. So why are you in such a rush?
Don’t make the mistakes a lot of people make. They throw a lot of cash at their business because they wanna see it grow fast. While it might help, your ROI will be less.
Lack of patience can ruin your business within a short period of time.
7. Giving up Easily
“Quitters never win, winners never quit.”
This is one of the top reasons why a lot of startups fail. People give up so easily because they expect that their business will prosper fast and get cash. When such expectations are not met, people tend to give up.
Just because making money online is relatively easier, doesn’t mean that it is any easy to be honest.
You have to work hard and it’ll take time to grow and prosper. The truth most Internet marketers don’t tell you is that it could take a while before you start seeing actual results. The time varies from one individual and business to another.
If you don’t want your business to fail in 2018 you should take a note of the things I listed above and work your way through them. I have solved 90% of the problems for you, the rest is up to you. If you want to succeed, you have to be willing to dedicate to your business and be determined to change.
